A SPECIAL AND UNIQUE VALENTINES DAY
Let's talk Valentine's Day. I will hesitantly admit that this holiday usually brings me a good amount of anxiety each year. I have always rebelled against the pressure of marketing that our society puts on us and it has turned me into a bit of a Scrooge in years past. Yet this year, I feel quite different. I am reminding myself to just be fully present in the love that I have for others AND the love that I hold for myself. Lockdown has made me appreciate these precious opportunities and that I ultimately control the reverence around Valentine's Day.
The traditions in my home for this holiday have always been simple. I usually a leave a love note attached to some valentines candy for my teen boys, a love note to my hubby and then cook a heartfelt cozy dinner.
However, as I am feeling a bit more sentimental, I decided that I'm going to surprise the family and create a Valentine's picnic. I am going to break the monotony of our every day routine. I am going to put on makeup and do my hair for my hubby since I've been fully embracing the, "I don't give a crud" look for weeks now. He may not recognize me. The end goal is for Love, laughter and gratitude to be at that Valentine's picnic.
My dear friend and home influencer, Karen of Sanctuary Home, is the one that inspired me for Valentines! She has amazing blogs about how to create an effortless and gorgeous picnic. Please click on the photos below to read each of her picnic blogs. How cute is the idea of a picnic in the back of a truck and/or to create an outdoor table! If weather permits here in Los Angeles, I am hoping to be outside. If not, the family room will be just as special.
Now let's talk Valentine's Day Fashion! It's time to spoil yourself, a daughter, a sister or it's time to spice things up with your partner. I found a few Valentine's temptations that caught my eye and how I would recommend pairing with jewelry. I hope that you enjoy. Also.....
